Audience Profile

After considering the style I will go on to achieve in my magazine I have decided to target predominantly the female market, aged between 16 and 26. I feel this is the best market to go for due to the fact that in particular females tend to sway more towards taking an interest in singer songwriter music than males, because of the stereotype it is given. Music that allows an audience to connect to the lyrics is associated with emotional people, who look for meaning behind songs, which males of this particular age wouldn't, on a mass scale, be interested in.

Name: Chloe Prince

Age: 18

Interests: Music gigs, playing acoustic guitar, watching rom-com films, meeting with friends, going to the cinema, drawing

Clothing: Topshop, Zara, ASOS, vintage shops, hand-me-downs.

Occupation: Finishing off last year of A Levels, hopes to go on to university to study music. She hopes to develop a career which involves touring around the country and globally when more experienced. She lives in London, due to it being the best place for developing music in the country.

Artists: Ed Sheeran, Lewis Watson, Sam Smith, Gabrielle Aplin, Nina Nesbitt

General Information: Chloe is constantly busy with A Level work, but always makes time to see her boyfriend and best friends. By going on nights out together, and doing daytime activities such as going to the cinema, or coffee dates she is able to relax, and do what makes her happy. She also plays her acoustic guitar to help vent her emotions to keep her calm and more relaxed when getting stressed with her lifestyle.

Name: Louisa Wright

Age: 16

Interests: Meeting friends, girly nights in, facials, pamper and spa days, going to her dads house, football, song writing, playing acoustic guitar, singing.

Clothing: Topshop, River Island, New Look, Sports Direct

Occupation: Her GCSE Final Exams coming up, she hopes to continue her love for music and sport at a college course near to her house, where she can combine the two together. She busks in the street for enjoyment and public feedback.

Artists: Frank Hamilton, Olly Murs, Lewis Watson, Ed Sheeran

General Information: Due to Louisa's mum and dad separating over the last year she has kept herself distant from a lot of people so resorted to reading music magazines. As well as reading, she has now begun writing her own songs so she can fulfil her dream of either becoming a global singing sensation, or a music/PE teacher. She is more of a kinaesthetic learner, and finds it difficult to concentrate in non practical lessons.

These kind of lifestyles fit in with the content in magazines such as Frankie. Even though it is currently mainly a fashion magazine, there are articles on the latest music as well, which compliments genre styles of music.

On the Frankie website their 'about' column is really interesting as they list the type of people they would assume read their magazine, as if they are directly targeting them. My audience profiles of Chloe Prince and Louisa Wright fit into these categories, which means Frankie is a particularly accurate style model to use/replicate for my magazine.
